My 'week-end' started with my son waking me up at 2:30 Friday morning, informing me that he just 'got sick'! My first question was "Where?" The answer was exactly as it should be, so my next comment was, "This is the only time of year I hate your bed!" My incredibly talented husband built him this bed two years ago...
Not conducive to the stomach flu!
So I set him all up on the couch with blankets, pillow and bucket and then grabbed my pillow and blanket and crammed myself in the love seat. He was sick and I didn't want to leave him all alone... by 5am I had woken up at least 5 times trying to stretch out and a few times because Chris told me I was snoring! Well he never did get sick again and the next morning fessed up to eating four pieces of pizza and A LOT of candy at his Valentines Day party... GREAT!
I still kept him home from school it was only a half day anyway... I was exhausted and achy and a little disappointed since I was going to treat myself to a 'Winter Blues' pedicure that morning... Oh well maybe when winter break is over!
After playing video games and watching cartoons with Chris all day on Friday, I decided Saturday would be MY day! I locked myself in my sewing room and worked on Hope's bumper pads. I had already finished the head piece on Thursday (picture to the right) I ended up getting all the ruffles on the side pieces and decided to wait another day to embroider the sides. The bumpers reverse to the large rose print in the top right of the picture. Her curtains are also the rose print.
Then I began to decorate our kitchen for the Chinese New Year! We had planned all week to celebrate and order from our favorite Chinese restaurant that evening. Then my husband decided he wasn't feeling well and wanted to know what he could take for an upset stomach...hmmm maybe Chris really had been sick???Needless to say we didn't order carry out last night and still haven't. I bought some frozen Chinese food after church today for Chris and I and made Jim a grilled cheese and applesauce. We celebrated the Chinese New Year a day late and not the way we had planned but we were together. I even set a plate for Hope and Chris said a beautiful blessing that asked God to watch over Hope wherever she is and to bring us together as soon as possible.
One of my best friends surprised me with a Chinese New Year Card and a large copy of "Love You Like Crazy Cakes" board book wrapped in red paper! I was so thrilled. Sometimes I worry that my friends are tired of 'adoption stuff' just like years ago 'infertility stuff' but she assured me that she wasn't at all. That she is just as excited to see Hope as we are... and that's saying a lot!
Last but not least... I couldn't help but post this picture of Scout laying in the snow. It just amazes me that he can be so blissfully happy laying in the freezing cold!
