All A's All Year

Chris had a stellar academic year. In our house we stress personal best we don't expect a perfect record. However, for the first time ever, Chris maintained an all A average ALL year...

I wanted to reward him for doing such an amazing job. I wanted to surprise him with something he has been asking for, for a very long time. Something that I feel is impractical and quite expensive. Heelys.

You have to understand, I am THAT mom. The one who is over protective and safety conscious. We don't skate, bike or scooter, without a helmet. We don't have a trampoline. Chris isn't allowed on one unless he is 'solo' and I'm watching. Period.

So when I purchased these, I got a few e-mails from family, sharing the 'dangers' of Heelys, including websites listing the injury statistics, here and abroad. I think they were quite shocked that I would even consider such a 'dangerous' thing for my precious son!

Oh well, you have to let your kid fall 'eventually'... I guess at 11.5 I will let him... as long as he's padded up and has his helmet on!
